"Crossing Them Over"

This painting is of a Yellowstone bull, that gave me some of the best elk reference photos I have ever taken! But when he got tired of being the center of attention, with car loads and even bus loads of people from all over the world trying to take his photo, he would finally gather up his cows and head across the river and into the timber where they wouldn’t be bothered for the rest of the day. I took photos of him several different days… the one day I came before sunrise, and he and his cows came across the river in the beautiful dawn light, with steam from the nearby geyser swirling around them, right to where I was set up! They didn't even pay attention to me as I sat there with my camera clicking away!
