Fisherman's Path

Every Fall, I end up, not too far from our home, painting and taking photos along the Gallatin River. Some how it never gets old seeing the beautiful fall colors being reflected in that gorgeous flowing river! This painting, I began on location, setting up my easel right on the “fisherman’s path” along the river near Axtel Bridge, not far from the town of Gallatin Gateway…too soon the light had changed and I ended up finishing the painting in my studio, with my photo reference. Usually, I don’t like to touch my field study paintings after leaving the location, as it tends to ruin the spontaneous effect of painting outdoors, but this one I couldn’t resist, and yes, I did end up overworking it! I guess I am slow to learn!
